MURAT I. MOSQUE AND MADRASAH

The construction of the mosque, which was built by Sultan Murad I, began in 1363. The building, which is one of the inverted ‘T’ planned mosques of Turkish Islamic Architecture, has two floors. The two-storey portico application, the lower floor of which is arranged as a mosque and the upper floor as a madrasah, is a unique style and can not be seen in any other mosque.

The lower floor; the last congregation place consists of an outer sofa, the main place of worship covered with a dome, and six rooms covered with vaults. Stone and brick were used on the outer parts of the mosque, and a geometric ornament was used from place to place.

There is the tomb of Murad I in front of the mosque.
