Complex of Sultan Bayezid II Health Museum

The Second Bayezid Complex Health Museum, located on the banks of the Tunca River, is one of the most important works of Edirne. Mosque; It is spread over a wide area with its medical madrasah, imaret, darüşşifa, hamam, kitchen, food stores and other sections. The Second Bayezid Complex was transformed into the Health Museum by Trakya University. The museum was awarded the “European Museum Award” by the Council of Europe in 2004.

Darüşşifa and tıb madrasah are on the western side of the mosque. The most important part of the hospital consists of a large domed part and six domed rooms lined up around it and a sofa with five sofas. Under the large dome there is a fountain with a fountain. At the front there is a courtyard surrounded by porticoes and the rooms are in order. The left section at the entrance to the courtyard is the kitchen and laundry section.

The type madrasah consists of eighteen student rooms covered with domes around a garden surrounded by a portico, a large domed classroom opposite, and there is a fountain in the middle of the garden. The mosque has a single dome and two minarets on four walls, and on the right and left there are tabhane (where patients are rested and cared for for a while after they recover).

(Bread oven) and candle house. In addition to mental illnesses, eye diseases were also treated in the healing house here. It is also reported by the traveler Evliya Çelebi that Darüşşifa has a pharmacy and that the poor patients are given free medicines by examining the public twice a week.

Today, the healing house serves as the Health Museum affiliated to Trakya University and the Medical Madrasah serves as the Family Medicine unit.
