Ayazma Mosque

Ayazma Mosque was built in 1760 by Mehmed Tahir Ağa on behalf of Sultan III. Mustafa, the 26th Ottoman Sultan, in the name of his mother Mihrişah Emine Sultan and his brother Şehzade Süleyman.

The mosque reflects a combination of Ottoman and Baroque architectural styles. The main structures of the complex are located within a courtyard, while the secondary structures supporting these buildings are constructed outside the courtyard. The structures within the courtyard include the imperial pavilion and burial places. The structures outside the courtyard consist of a primary school, a bathhouse, a fountain, a timekeeping house, and a water reservoir. The upper parts and sides of the courtyard gates, the center of the qibla wall, and the corners of the mosque are adorned with elegant birdhouses designed in the shape of shrines and pavilions. The artwork has undergone maintenance, repairs, and restoration at various times and was reopened for worship on July 29, 2022, after a comprehensive restoration carried out by the General Directorate of Foundations of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
