MAUSOLEUM OF SIRIN HATUN

10 It is known that it was built in the early 16th century on behalf of Shirin Hatun, wife of Bayezid II, and mother of Prince Abdullah. Shirin Hatun ordered a masjid to be built in Trabzon, and ane school each in Bursa and in Mihaliç (Karacabey). In this mausoleum, there are two more tombs besides the one of Shirin Hatun. One of them is the tomb of Ayitishah Sultan, the daughter of Prince Abdullah, the other, however, the one of Ferahshah Hatun, his wife.

She furthermore affiliated these with different wants. Inside the mausoleum, there are the “Ayete’l Kursi”, or “Throne Verse”, written under the squinches with “cell sulus” script, and medallions and hand-drawn decorations on its walls.
