Its three-line epitaph board written in Arabic states that the construction of this mausoleum was ordered by Murad II, and built in 853 A.H. (1449) by his son, Mehmed the Conqueror, for his mother, Huma Hatun. It is also known as “Ak Turbe” (“The White Mausoleum”), or “Hatuniye Turbesi” (“Hatuniye Mausoleum”).

“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, who is free from annihilation and impermanence. He is characterized by unity and everlastingness. Blessings and peace be upon the Prophet who brought a pure religion, and upon his family and companions. Then, that Sultan Murad, who migrated from this transient and prideful world to the eternal and joyful realm of the hereafter. He is the Sultan of all times, the master of lands and seas, the refuge of the warriors, the mujahideen, the weak, and the destitute, the pride of the Ottomans, Sultan Murad Han, son of Sultan Mehmed Han, son of Sultan Bayezid Han, chosen by the grace of Allah, the Sovereign and the Beneficent. May Allah place him in the chambers of paradise and rain His mercy upon him. He passed away to the hereafter on the first Wednesday of Muharram, in the year H. 852 / M. 1449, at the time of mid-morning.”
In the inside of this mausoleum, there are hand-drawn ornaments from the 19th century. These cover its dome, its mihrab, and its walls, respectively.
Besides the sarcophagus of Huma Hatun, which is placed on a marble platform, there is another sarcophagus the identity of the person buried in it, however, is unknown.
This mausoleum, which was thoroughly restored by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality between 2013 and 2014, is located within a site, which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2014.
