SARAYLILAR MAUSOLEUM

Although there is no information on the date of construction of this mausoleum nor on its sponsor, due to its architectural style, it is estimated to have been built in the 15th century.

This mausoleum is attributed to the women from the palace, Akile and Belkıs, the elder sisters of Mahidevran Hatun. This structure is also called “Cariyeler Mausoleum.” This open-sided mausoleum is one of two structures situated within the Muradiye Mausoleums (the other one is the “Midwife Hatun Mausoleum”). It is covered with a pyramidal spire. It is the only structure within Muradiye Kulliye having such type of covering. Inside this mausoleum, there are two sarcophagi.

This mausoleum, which was thoroughly restored by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality between 2013 and 2014, is located within a site that was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2014.
